India are to enter World Cup T 20 Finals after South Africa plan to give them a walkover in the Semis

This is historic ! as it has never happened before !…unprecedented!

India as Group 2 Winners were to play Group 1 Second Placed  South Africa in the second Semi Finals on April 4,2014

South Africa Team Management has been instructed by their Board to give a walkover to India as the Indian Cricket Board BCCI withdrew their proposal to play the first half of  IPL 7  in South Africa in April and May 2014 and which is now scheduled for Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah….this will deprive South Africa of making half a billion dollars in profits

I’ve told you before Honey ! that Cricket’s all about Money !

Times of India says Saina Nehwal lost and Mumbai Mirror says she won her First match in the BWF Super Series!

🙄 So did Saina Nehwal win or lose against Minatsu Mitani of Japan in the first round robin league match in the BWF Super Series 21-19,22-24, and was the third deciding  game 19-21 or 21-19 ! in favour or against Saina Nehwal

😥 Times of India Edition today states that Saina Nehwal lost in the Badminton Super Series First Round in Kaula Lumpur  losing the third game 19-21

😆 While Mumbai Mirror,a Daily from the Times Group stable itself ,on Page 20 of their Edition Today  says she won the last game 21-19 in a hard fought match that lasted 1 hour Eight Minutes! ! ! But till this morning they have they have not provided the link on the net

😐 The BWF Official Site reveals that Saina Nehwal actually lost ~ losing  the second and third games after winning the first

A 🙂 Smile or 🙁 Frown would therefore be there on you depending on whether you read this in the Mumbai Mirror or in the Times of India !

….and if you read both, like I did, you’d be confused and either just not bother or like me find out what really happened and then Frown ! 🙁

It happens sometimes,I guess !

😆 It’s been a Super Sunday as The Cathedral & John Connon Schoolwon the Bronze in Wardha at the Maharashtra State U 19 Girls DSO Football  Tournament

This was the School’s First Appearance in this State Championship after having qualified as Mumbai City Champions in October 2013 and then going on to be crowned as Zonal Champions in November 2013 ~ Had blogged on this earlier

Fabulous Friday as Kunashni Parikh Captains Cathedral & John Connon School to their First ever U 19 Girls Football DSO Crown in 152 Years !

Monday, November 18th, 2013

Cathedral beat Latur 4-0 ( Goals scored by Simran,Ayushi,Anam and Tara),lost to Buldana 0-2 and then drubbed  Aurangabad 5-0( Goals scored by Simran,Kunashni,Maitreyi,Urja and Roshni) to get the Bronze

🙂 Many Thanks to  Cathedral Team Girl’s Mom Jankhana who had accompanied the Team to Wardha ~ she set up a Wardha Football Parents Group on Whatsapp and was giving us,Parents live updates during  the Matches and even shared somes Pictures. The above Team Photo is courtesy her effort this evening

Surely a Proud Moment for the School and  it’s PE Support Department  and the Parents and Coach Deepak Narwade of these 18 ‘Never Say Die’ Spirited Cathedral Girls who have made this Team undoubtedly the Best one in the History of the School ~ The Coach calls them ” My Angels!”

It was a Complete Team Effort and I am Proud that this Team was Captained by my Daughter Kunashni Parikh (kneeling extreme right front row in the lone dark blue school jersey) ~She’s a Goalkeeper but played up full time  in the Match for Bronze and even scored a Goal heading the Ball in  ~ she’s been such an Inspiration to the Girls that some of  the Junior Girls paid her a superb Compliment ” Please keep Failing in Std 12 till we reach it so you can be our Football Captain for the next  few years !”   😆

Tomorrow they will announce who will represent Maharashtra at the Nationals and a few names should be from this Cathedral Team !

😆 Way to Go Cathedral Girls !

Challenger Magnus Carlsen dethrones Vishwanathan Anand as World Chess Champion

The 22 year old Norwegian Chess Prodigy,Magnus Carlsen was crowned the new World Chess Champion in Chennai yesterday dethroning twice his age 44 year old Indian,Viswanathan Anand in his own den.Anand was the reigning Champion from 2007 to 2013

Carlsen showed his youthful exuberance by jumping into his Chennai Hotel Swimming Pool to celebrate being crowned as the World Chess Champion ….Cannot imagine Anand ever doing this ! ~ Carlsen is already popular and even idolised within the Younger Generation who play Chess

He is the second youngest to win this Crown, the youngest being Garry Kasparov, who had flown into Chennai with his wife to cheer Carlsen for this Match as he had coached  Carlsen in 2009 ~ Kasparov was not given a formal welcome in Chennai as he was not an invited guest by World Chess Body FIDE,for which he will run for President next year ~ as he himself says “I’m here as a Chess Tourist”  ~ Kasparov is reckoned to be the Greatest Chess Player the World has seen to date

Clearly it was the Vigour of Youth that played a Vital Part as Carlsen took the World Crown in just 10 games of the scheduled 12 games Championship Match winning three of the Ten Games( Games 5,6 and 9) and drawing the rest and last one to emerge the Victor with a score of 6.5 to 3.5

Anand summed it up best when he admitted “My mistakes didn’t happen just by themselves. Clearly, he managed to provoke them”

Carlsen confirmed on Anand that “The blunders that he made are unusual”

The worry is that this was the first time in Eight World Championship Matches since 1995 that Anand has not won a single game and he may not get another chance to become World Champion ~ he has been Five Times World Champion thus far before Carlsen ended his Era yesterday ~ In fact Carlsen had placed ahead of Anand in the last eight Tournaments where both have played

48 year old British Grandmaster,Nigel Short’s Interview in Mumbai Mirror today is quite candid and blunt that no one was expecting Anand to win as in recent years he goes for Draws rather than a Win and lacks Energy now

Nevertheless despite being dethroned as the World Chess Champion,Vishwanathan Anand remains one of the Worlds Greats in Chess

PS : 6 year old Dev Shah,a Chess Prodigy from Mumbai, saw his idol,Magnus Carlsen win from close quarters ~ he was there in Chennai at the Championship

…and my daughter,a student of Psychology, had been approached by Dev’s Mother to talk to him and motivate and inspire  him ~ she has already had a few successful one to one sessions with Dev before he went on to win a Gold and Silver at the u 7 Asian School Championships in Sri Lanka in September ~ and has received appreciation from his Family ~ Dev has a FIDE Rating of 1466 and was rooting for Carlsen who he wants to emulate and even better his record ~ “Carlsen became a Grandmaster at the Age of 13.I want to become a GM at 11”  ~ and this is great goal when Dev states this on his Idol Carlsen at the Chennai World Chess Championship ” I want to sit where he is sitting.Maybe when he is 43,I will “ read more

Fabulous Friday as Kunashni Parikh Captains Cathedral & John Connon School to their First ever U 19 Girls Football DSO Crown in 152 Years !

Fabulous Friday evening,November 15,2013  as daughter and Goalkeeper Kunashni Parikh Captained Cathedral & John Connon School to their First ever U 19 Girls Football DSO Crown in 152 Years of the School’s History

They Beat the fancied Fr Agnel Team from Vashi who had seven State and one National Player in their Ranks !

Earlier they had won the Mumbai City Trophy and on Friday in the Zonals they were crowned the Mumbai City and Thane Champions ~ They now go to the States Championship for the first time

The Coach,Deepak Narwade was overwhelmed with emotion and was all teary eyed and all the Girls in the Team were ecstatic after having won ,coming from 0-1 down to equalise and then win on penalties in Sudden Death

During the Penalties and Sudden Death, Kunashni ,who has played for India as Vice Captain and Goalkeeper and is also a student of Psychology in Std 12 ISC,psyched out the Fr Agnel Penalty Takers by delaying tactics and going up to them and staring them in the face and pumping herself by screaming “Yes!” in the Goal and was warned by Referee that she would get a Yellow Card but later after they won in Sudden Death he told her “Good Tactics !” ~ Later she told me that once the Match had gone to Penalties she was confident they would win as “it then became a Mind Game”

Kunashni dedicated the Win to the Coach Deepak Narwade and saluted all her Team Members, especially the Goal Scorer Roshni Dadachanji whose brilliant 35 yard Free Kick in the second half equalised for Cathedral after Fr Agnel was 1-0 up early in the First Half, and Simran Sanghvi’s Great Tries that  nearly scored for Cathedral and  Anam Alwani and Urja Mehta and Niharika Naik who scored in the Penalty Shoot out and her Defender Mallika Razdan

Once again Super Congrats to the Cathedral Girls u 19 Football Team  for being fantabulously crowned  the DSO u 19 Mumbai City and Zonal Champions for the First time in the School’s 152 year History and now moving to the States Championship

Well done Cathedral Girls ~ The School and Coaches and PE Dept and Teachers and we, the Parents are all Proud of this Historic Victory achieved as a Team

May it motivate and Inspire all of you further and even all the other Football and Other Sports Teams of the School to go out there and play fearlessly and positively and give your best no matter how strong the Opposition is !

You Girls are Fighters and Now should believe more in yourselves ~ Now Go Enjoy and play as fearlessly and positively with great sporting spirit too and as a Team at the State Championships read more
