In the Euro Context what’s the Difference between a Borrower and a Lender ?

😉 In the Euro Context what’s the Difference between a Borrower and a Lender ?

😀 Heavy Eurozone Borrowers PIIGS  (Portugal,Ireland,Italy,Greece and Spain) are thoroughly and excitedly enjoying playing each other in the Euro 2012 Football  ~ These Nations are Economically and Debt Beat but clearly Football Upbeat ! ~ can’t kickstart the Economy so let’s go kick Ball !

😥 While Heavy Lenders to the Eurozone ~USA ,China,India and the  Many other Countries in the Rest of the World and even Germany and France from within the Eurozone , are anxious about the collapse of the Euro and the Eurozone , a Greece exit, and the Impact on their own Economies !

Whatever ! Enjoy the Euro 2012 QFs from tonight when Portugal  face the Czech Republic !

What an Exciting & Proud and Warm and Special Saturday !…Daughter Scores a Distinction @ 94% in ICSE Std X and Captains the Bombay Gymkhana Women’s Football Team to a Win in their First Match

We are Truly Blessed !….What an Exciting & Proud & Warm & Special Saturday it was yesterday !

Daughter Scored a Distinction @ 94% in ICSE Std X and Captained the Bombay Gymkhana Women’s Football Team to a Win in their First Match…she’s the Goalkeeper in the Green Jersey in the picture below

Bombay Gymkhana Women's Football Team 2012

Heartfelt Thanks to all of you for your continued Prayers ,Best Wishes and Blessings for my Family and me…believe me, these count big time !…I pray you’ll continue to have us in your Prayers

Family is Thrilled and Proud of the 16 to be 17  year old later in the year  Daughter scoring high in ICSE….considering that she was out of School on India Football Duty as Vice Captain and Goalkeeper of the India u 16 Girls Football team for long periods aggregating nearly Four Months in 2010 and then as Maharashtra State Captain of the u 19  Girls Football Team for the Schools Nationals in Port Blair in the crucial closing Months of 2011 just before Std X Preliums…even when she returned to Mumbai in December 2011,her mind and heart was left behind in Port Blair where she held the State Flag as Captain (see picture below) and took them to the Semi Finals against all odds…took her a full week to get back into the study groove and mode

Captain Kunashni Parikh leading with the Maharashtra Flag at the December 2011 Schools u 19 Football Nationals in Port Blair

…I had told her Percentages are not really important in assessing a Person…what is more defining is Character,Personality, ‘being human and humble’ and being on track with the right values…being caring and compassionate….being mindful of the Planet’s Environment…..  and not ‘pulling’ someone down to ‘pull’  yourself up !…you’ll then have earned and commanded, and not demanded, the respect of  all….they will  genuinely share your happiness too in your achievements…thus adding more shine to these for a more meaningful existence…..so even if she got 75% or 85% or 95% it really would not matter to me !…as parents we have not sat with her for one minute to teach or take up her Studies in the past two years, though we kept offering to do so ! …and as parents,we were touched when a few parents told us that she was not only the icon of their children, but theirs too !

She wants to make a Difference in many ways…she had even found time to move away briefly for a weekend from Mumbai to Badlapur where she stayed and taught at a School Orphanage…In Mumbai too she is involved with Interact, where she often has to go to Municipal Schools and teach young underprivileged and poor chbildren….she continues to inspire me ! read more

Mothers Day

…..Sunday began with Me saluting my late ‘Super Mom’ on Mothers Day….she went way beyond ‘Aam Rus and Dano’ !…I share Lin Yutang’s great thought  “For all the Rights of a Woman, the greatest one  is to become  a Mother ”

Serious Gym-ing !

…..Later in the morning I introduced my daughter to some Serious Gym….she was serious…I was just Gym-ing !.. the trainer put her through a vigorous 45 minute routine….she’s really pumped up and wants to go to the Gym tomorrow morning again !….after a good hot bath we followed it up with an excellent breakfast…this led to deferring plans to enjoy a sumptious Gujju Thali today with Aaam Rus,as I had blogged yesterday !

Interesting one to one Conversations during the Day

….the day was enriched with some interesting one to one conversation with five top professionals I met

...MD of  one of  India’s most reputed  Banks told me not to worry about Greece or Spain as we can’t control it !…therefore why worry about it….he thinks the worst is past…when I quipped that ‘Gym’ must be easier than running  a bank !, he counter quipped that running a bank was easier !…Oh ! and we both agreed that we disagreed with Ruchir Sharma’s stance on India in his much plugged book ‘Breakout Nations’ by NDTV  and others…especially his theory that Indian Rupee must weaken for India to remain competitive…in my books if a country is strengthening with sustained GDP Growth at 7% + it’s currency too must reflect this and strengthen…a weakening rupee and a high Global Oil Price  is playing havoc with Oil Imports …In FY 2011/12 Oil Imports were US $ 155 b of the total Imports of US $ 498 b….and our deficit is widening

a Senior Tennis and Cricket Commentator and me were discussing our children’s progress …he colourfully covers Wimbledon for us every year… acknowledges how far ahead our young generation is…much ahead of us in thinking and exploring great and varied opportunities…we both agreed that we need to be friends with our children and not to underestimate them…. leverage on their skill sets too read more

  • to put OnMobile Global at Rs 66 on Scrip Watch …Morgan Stanley currently has this as a wealth creator idea

Daughter Captains the u 19 Maharashtra State Football Team….

The 57th School National Games for u 19 Girls Football Event began in Port Blair on December 1,2011….16 year old daughter was appointed the Maharshtra Team Captain and had the honour of  holding the State Flag while leading her Team in at the Opening Ceremony…They thrashed Gujarat  7-0 on Friday,December 2,2011  and now face a tougher opponent Orissa tomorrow who also beat Gujarat 6-0 yesterday in their group…Both Maharashtra and Orissa qualify for the Quarter Final Knock Out Stage

The Journey to Port Blair was exhausting…The Team left the Kolhapur Camp by Haripriya Express Train on Nov 25 for Renikunta, near Tirupati to catch the connecting Madras Express to Chennai on Nov 26 morning…they missed the connection and had to catch a later train….it was raining in Chennai late night when they reached…left on a 60 hour journey for Port Blair by Ship on evening of November 27,2011 by SCI’s MV Harshavardhana….excitement turned to disgust as they were travelling Bunk Class…sleeping was on steel bunk beds….the food was not edible….they survived on biscuits for three days !…….they had mobile phones and monies stolen…daughter’s phone went….we remain in touch through phones of teammates…”Like you see Jail in the Movies,Dad ! ” …A Pity that a listed PSU like SCI runs such a third rate service on their Passenger Ship to Port Blair…..but Port Blair is better…awesome view from the Ship as they came in…and the Opening Ceremony Parade was lovely….daughter says the Games are being covered on DD Sports…told her to enjoy the Games and shirk off any Captaincy Expectations and Pressures….School Prelims begin this week and she will miss a few papers….She’s in Std X and will be appearing in March 2012 for the ICSE Final Examinations….School is thrilled at her achievement as this is the first time in the history of the School that a Girl has been selected for the State Team for the School Nationals conducted by the School Games Federation of India…her poster announcing this has been put up front as one enters the School….feel warm and proud that she continues to make her School & State and Family & Friends proud….like a Business Leader Friend (not part of above people I met) and Father of her schoolmate remarked to me and a few others in our group last night “She is my hero and my inspiration ! “….well, she is mine too !           read more
