BSE MD Resigns….BSE : Demutalisation or Demoralisation ?

Some say it was a foregone conclusion that Mr Rajnikant Patel, MD of BSE would go… after two Directors, including Chairman of the Board resigned recently.. check earlier blogs for this…. had send a Scriptech Standpoint Communication too to clients on this…. I had urged for Chairman, Shekhar Dutta and Director, Jamshyd Godrej to disclose the specific reasons why they had resigned after having accepted Board Positions less than a  year ago…. But MD of BSE resigning now ! you’ve got to disclose why, in interests of the Investing Public !

Interestingly BSE is up for Corporate Membership in some of the best Clubs in Mumbai with Mr Patel as the Nominee…. BSE will need to revise the nominee now too… what if the Formal and Informal Interviews have already taken place!… BSE has seen a spate of resignations recently and at this pace of resignations Clubs are going to get upset at the pace of changing nominations too!… may just be grounds to black ball !

Interestingly just yesterday a BSE head called me to wish me and remind me that I was now a year older !… he’s got triplets … now all of a cute three years of age and he dotes on them…. says with all that is happening at BSE he cant wait to rush back to them as early as he can everyday

Pull up your socks BSE… you’re losing good guys and demoralising the rest….. Demutualisation was to lead to Professional, Transperant and more Efficient Management and less Insider Trading…. and attract great talent with better salary packages…. but Member Brokers are like Leopards…. can’t change their spots….. SEBI may just use this excuse of “Brokers Interfering” and take over the BSE Board !… there are three Powerful Member Brokers on the Board.

A Beautiful Olympic Sunday Morning

After a lovely late night…read earlier blog….got up early at 6.30 am for the Sunday Morning Massage…later at 8 am saw our 18 year old Saina Nehwal enter the Round of 16 in Badminton winning her second round match against a Ukranian Opponent in straight games at 21/18 and 21/10..she’s really in great form and is blooming under the Tutelage of Gopichand in Hyderabad…If you recall Gopichand also emulated Prakash Padukone when he too was crowned the All England Open Champion

Moments later saw our Ladies Archery Team, who were sixth of Ten Teams selected for today’s rounds,lose a close battle with China…It went to the last Arrow with China slipping into the Semi Finals 211/206 at our Cost

Anup Sridhar, our Men’s Hope in Badminton, plays his first match later this evening ,against an opponent from Portugal and is a favourite to win

…..And US Sensational Swimmer, Michael Phelps, bagged his First Gold in his quest for Eight Golds this Olympics… He won the 400m Individual Medley in a World Record Time of 4m 3.84 sec… he broke his own Record…. he hopes to better Mark Spitz’s Seven Golds  in the Munich Olympics in 1972 

And just some advice to DD Sports… Thanks for the Live and Deferred Live Telecast… but can you cut out local commentary… and more important… whatever you show, can you please show it to the end… Just as the Olympic Flame was to be lit…you blacked out…. luckily we switched to another Indian News Channel that was also showing it Live…yesterday you switched from Cycling just as the 200 kmEndurance  race was in it’s Final Km !… also you switched from Boxing in a close match just as Final Round 4 of Two minutes was to begin !  

And now to a lovely Sunday Morning Breakfast of Vegetable A-la-kiev on Toast…Cheers

Wifey Darling had a surprise in store for me last night!

The kids and some friends were more than just friendly yesterday and I should have sensed it when my son requested me yesterday morning to sign in around 9 pm last night his friends for Dinner at the Club !

Then a Friend called at 7.30 pm to say “Hey Gaurav why don’t you join us at the Club as our daughters are here too and we can just chill ! “

We reached the Club at 8.30 pm and guess what my daughter guided me to the Pub…I told her Kids are not allowed in…she said that’s alright…..There in the Pub a close friend, on my wife’s request, had taken a huge table for 14 and all our close friends came in…..it was a surprise planned it seems by wifey darling  nearly a week ago….what a blast !…it was retro night and we burnt the dance floor with the DJ playing Boney M,Bruce Springstreen,Laura Brannigan and later  “Pappu can’t dance ” and “Aaj ki Raat”

Thanks darling ! You’re the Best !…Some of us Guys wanted to move to “Poison” at 1 am but our wives insisted on coming too !…..We were complaining that one of our friend’s mobile never worked ! to which his wife,who had literally single handedly rocked the Dance Floor and got  everyone grooving, revealed ” Which part of him ever works !”……and when I answered ” Atleast One definitely works !”, she wanted to know how I knew !

And FV you enjoyed your Mocktail Virgin Mary….because it was spiked !

There was a lovely wind Blowing and a light drizzle …..No body wanted to really go Home..so we hung around in the Club,around our Cars just savouring the Gorgeous Weather..One of my friends ,who too was exposed to the Earth on the same Day as me,wanted to drive all the way to Khandala and Lonavla…Monsoon splendoured hill stations an hour away from Mumbai !

Thanks baby for a great surprise…and thanks darling kids for playing along too and helping Mom to get me to the Club….Love you all…you’re my Vitamins !…and thank you Friends..You’ll are a great Support…and No RJ ,you’re not getting all my gifts for going early to arrange the Pub table on a crowded Saturday Night even though my Wife said you deserve it !…and thanks for the thought of gifting me Viagra !…Does it work on Plants? ! 

And to all Friends and Family who called to wish..Thanks for reminding me I’m getting old !..especially those”Tigers” who took a potshot at this “Lion” thinking that being in faraway NZ makes them safe…guys check your emails for Virus from Now On ! read more
